Lucy Bravo Awarded ANID PhD Scholarship

GEL

We are thrilled to announce that Lucy Bravo has been awarded the ANID PhD scholarship to pursue her doctorate in Mining Engineering. Lucy, who earned her Civil Mining Engineering degree from Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (UTFSM) in 2023, has been recognized for her outstanding academic achievements and innovative research.

Lucy's undergraduate thesis under the supervision of Prof. Adeline Delonca (UTFSM) docused on evaluating the risks of rockbursts through numerical modeling, showcasing her expertise in addressing critical mining challenges. Currently, she is a PhD student at the University of Chile, where she investigates the influence of geological fault systems on the stability, planning and design of underground mines under high stress. Her research, supervised by Prof. Luis Felipe Orellana, aims to improve our understanding of fault reactivation and its impact on mining safety and efficiency.
